The Millennium – Literal or Figurative? Is the Millennium (‘one thousand years’) mentioned in the book of Revelation to be taken Literally? In the OT the mention of ‘a thousand’ in many instances is usually accepted across the board as literal – (e.g. Nu.1:41 – tribes of Israel…(also in 2:16,28; 31:34; Ezra 2:69 (thousands of pounds of silver and gold); Is.30:17; etc…). Some would say that these are obviously literal. But is the 1,000 years in the book of Revelation likewise obviously not literal? Or is it obviously figurative?
